“Sans Forgetica”, the typography that helps you improve memory

“Sans Forgetica” is a typeface designed by the University of Melbourne to improve memory.

Surely it will have happened to all of us while we study. The lack of interest and fatigue took our toll and made us not retain the texts we read. As a result, we did not remember them and we had problems when taking the exams.

A problem they have wanted to solve at the University of Melbourne. A team of researchers from the RMIT in Melbourne have created a typeface that they say could end school failure and lack of memory. The typeface is called “Sans Forgetica”.

Songwriters Fonts, fonts based on the calligraphy of famous artists like Kurt Cobain, David Bowie or John Lennon.

We’ve loved this project entitled “Songwriters Fonts”, fonts based on the calligraphy of famous artists. Made by French designers Nicolas Damiens and Julien Sens, the fonts can be downloaded from their website.

They have made a meticulous process analyzing hundreds of handwritten notes of the most famous artists to develop a similar typeface. At the moment there are fonts with the calligraphy of Kurt Cobain, David Bowie, John Lenon, Leonard Cohen and Serge Gainsbourg.

Pop Culture Typography is a project by graphic artist Isaac More. The project summarizes in little more than 200 seconds three decades of typographic styles of pop culture.

The typography surrounds us in every moment of our life. In the packaging of products, walking down the street, reading a magazine, opening a computer or of course in movies, series and video games. And behind a product for a large audience, there is a large number of hours designed to create the image for that product. The fonts used in movies and large productions contain a meticulous work. They do it as an integral part of the project, so that they can be remembered over time.

We review the history of the Great Female Graphic Designers: Susan Kare.

In telling advertising agency we love to review the history of the great figures of advertising, graphic design and typography. Everything related to a world that we are passionate about. In fact, if we are here now it is thanks to those people who dared to do something different and think in an uncommon way to inspire us.

They are great artists who, unfortunately, will not stand out in any art gallery nor will people remember them. But his work has been present in the day to day of millions of people, in those details that are not seen and those things that are not given importance. Great male designers like Massimo Vignelli, Paul Rand, Saul Bass, Ivan Chermayeff & Tom Geismar, Walter Landor or Herb Lubalin. Great illustrators like Drew Struzan or Greg Martin. And great typographers like Adrian Frutiger.

We have reviewed the history of all of them but … what about women? In a time when male domination was palpable at all levels, great artists excelled in a world dominated by men. And after this dramatic introduction (XD) we give way to the review of the great female graphic designers of history: Today, Susan Kare, the designer of the icons and typography of the first Macintosh.
